McBRIDE SISTERS in Monterey, California

This is the largest African American owned winery in the US. The sisters only met one another as young women. Half sisters, one was raised in California and the other in New Zealand, and they only connected after their father died and family members in New Zealand learned of a sister and undertook a search for her. After meeting, they discovered a shared passion for wine and embarked upon their new venture as partners, forming McBride Sisters Collection and Black Girl Magic Wines.

They are zealous about sustainable farming techniques and have pursued eco-friendly practices not only in the wines they make but in all facets of their company. They are inspired by the endless pursuit of all women who are making their dreams a reality and breaking barriers daily. The Black Girl Magic collection, only available in California and online right now, is their personal ode to their culture and story. It is inspired by the magic and resilience of Black women, to be enjoyed by all.

McBride Sisters Chardonnay Central Coast 2018 Aromas of lemon curd and honey, pineapple and ripe pear. Soft and balanced texture, with a slight hint of toasty oak that balances the palate and persists with the fruit. Complexity and character without weight. $16.99

McBride Sisters Red Blend Central Coast 2017 Cherry and plum aromas, gently laced with cedar and vanilla. Perfectly balanced tannin and just the slightest hint of earthiness complimenting the fruit. Extended oak aging softens the finish and brings with it a suggestion of baking spices and cocoa. Elegant and understated. $18.99
